Sherman Library’s book collection encompasses more than 15,000 volumes relating to the history of the Pacific Southwest. The book collection is open to the public, however, the library is non-circulating, so materials must be used onsite.
The majority of book titles are searchable through the Newport Beach Public Library’s catalog. The library also maintains a traditional card catalog onsite.
Sherman Library’s book collection is an extensive city directory collection covering all of California. These books, the earliest of which date to the 1880s, are a unique tool for genealogists and others wishing to research individuals. You may search an index to the cities included in this collection.
