Garden Flow: Dancing With Nature Presented in partnership with Backhausdance

August 9, 11 & 14

Move with the garden and step into nature with Backhausdance professional dancers for 3 magical, 90-minute outdoor workshops inspired by nature’s vital pollinators! Discover the connection between contemporary dance movement through the inspiration of birds, butterflies, and bees. Everyone is welcome to Stretch. Move. Create and Connect! Perfect for children and families, friends, youth and teens, adults, grandparents, seniors, caregivers and veterans. No dance experience is necessary, and participants may dance seated or standing . Come and explore, play, create, and dance in the fresh air!

$5 for children (4-17)
Free for children under 4 years old.
Free to Sherman members.

Garden Flow: Dancing with Nature – Birds of a Feather
Guided by Backhausdance professional dancers, participants will explore contemporary dance movements inspired by the hummingbirds and many other birds that fill Sherman Library & Gardens with vibrancy and life. You can become a bird in flight by soaring, gliding, hovering, and flocking through our fun and collaborative movement-making workshop.

Garden Flow: Dancing With Nature – The Grace and Wonder of Butterflies
Inspired by the colors, patterns, and graceful flight of these remarkable pollinators, participants will create movement phrases and explore the wonder of change and growth through movement. We will create and share a unique Dance of the Butterflies, celebrating imagination, self-expression, and the beauty of nature.

Garden Flow: Dancing With Nature – The Buzz of Community: Hive
Experience the energy, teamwork, and interconnectedness of the hive in this lively and engaging dance workshop led by Backhausdance professional dancers. Inspired by the movement and cooperation of bees, we will explore rhythm, community, and collective creativity through fun contemporary dance movements and create and share a unique Dance of the Bees. Together we will discover how individual contributions can come together to create something vibrant and meaningful.
