Join Debra Mauzy-Melitz from the Orange Empire Bonsai Society to learn about the Japanese Kokedama, or moss ball.
Kokedama is the practice of taking the root ball of a plant and suspending it in a ball of soil, which is then coated with soft green moss. During this hands-on workshop, you will make your own Kokedama and learn some of the techniques Debra has developed to help you successfully sustain this traditional Japanese form of bonsai.
The final display will include a viewing stone from the Yuha Basin Desert in sand and a pair of Kai-awase shells, which you will paint. Kai-awase is a Japanese shell matching game that you will play to complete the class.
All supplies included.
