Presented by Eric Groft, Landscape Architect at Oehme van Sweden   

Eric Groft is one of the principal landscape architects at influential firm, Oehme, van Sweden (OvS), renowned as the originators of the New American Garden style, which celebrates the seasonal splendor of the American meadow while promoting its inherent ecological and sustainable values.   

Eric’s lecture at Sherman Library & Gardens marks the publication of the new book Beyond Bold: Inspiration, Collaboration, Evolution by Sheila Brady, Lisa Delplace and Eric Groft, all principals at OvS. Eric will discuss the history and evolution of this influential firm over the last 50 years and give an insight into his many prestigious projects. He recently created the New American Garden at the American Museum and Gardens in Bath, UK, featuring 12,000 new plants drawn from a palette of American native perennials; and, his federal work includes the renovation of the White House Rose Garden and the Friendship Garden at the National Arboretum, revitalizing a OvS’s original design from 25 years ago.
