The Sherman Library & Gardens Award for Regional History Research for National History Day in 2025

The Sherman Library & Gardens Award for Regional History Research for National History Day in 2025 was awarded to Poiema Bernier, Rebekah Miller, Lucas Menendez and Enoch Wu for their documentary The Right to Stay: Doss v. Bernal Dismantling Housing Segregation which was well researched and executed. Jill Thrasher, Library Director, was present for the award ceremony and was proud to see these youth honored for their hard work.

Sherman Library’s National History Winners go to Nationals and Present Their Documentary: The Right to Stay: Doss v Bernal Dismantling Housing Segregation. Poiema Bernier, Rebekah Miller, Lucas Menendez, Enoch Wu from Acaciawood Preparatory Academy placed 5th and were earned the Latino American History Special Award. We are proud of their work and dedication to history.
