Joyful Flowers: The Japanese Art of Floral Arranging

Presented by Ikebana Lessons

Saturday, March 1 & Sunday, March 2
10.30am – 4pm

The show is inspired by the philosophy of Grand Master Mokichi Okada, creator of the Ikebana Sangetsu Style. The Ikebana Lessons’ Members and Friends will make 40+ beautiful arrangements using unique vases, baskets, and spring flowers and branches.

Families who attend will have an opportunity to create their mini-ikebana to take home. Kits, books, arrangements, bouquets, and weaving baskets will be available for purchase. 

Two lucky visitors will take home one raffled ikebana arrangement.

Talk & Demonstration: Ikebana Expressed in Angles and Motion

Learn how to make a simple ikebana arrangement and find out more about the history of this beautiful Japanese art. One lucky attendee will go home with an ikebana arrangement, selected by raffle. Free with garden admission.

Sunday, March 2 at 11:30am

Talk & Demonstration: Rules of Moribana and Nageire Arrangements

The Nageire arrangement is made in a tall vase, and the Moribana style is in a flat vase using a pin frog. This demonstrator will show how to make simple arrangements in upright and slanted forms. Free with garden admission.
