Guided Imagery in the Garden

June 18 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

Enjoy the calming power of nature in our serene gardens through Guided Imagery. Gain a mindfulness skill to bring peaceful inner awareness to any moment of your life.

Guided Imagery creates time to center yourself away from technology, schedules, and the endless demands for attention from an overwhelming outside world.  Guided imagery helps align your mind, body, and sense of self allowing you to be more fully available to the present moment and those people and experiences you value most in life.

This workshop invites participants to relax deeply as a skilled facilitator leads them through garden inspired visualizations connecting them to each of the five senses.

What You’ll Experience:

  • Beginning with gentle coordinated arm movements linked to breath in a seated position
  • Slow, kind language guiding you to rest, relax, and rejuvenate every cell of your body
  • Connection with the garden using your senses of sound, sensation, scent, sight, and taste
  • Mindful participation with your surrounding environment and new appreciation for detail
  • Grounding in the present moment to bring with you into the rest the day

Potential Benefits:

  • Participants report feeling deeply relaxed, optimistic, and energized after Guided Imagery
  • Gain a tool to use anytime for improving focus while reducing stress and anxiety
  • Continued practice can rewire neural pathways for positive thought patterns and improved cognitive function
  • Improve sleep quality

About the Workshop & Instructor

40-minute class plus 30 minutes to stroll the Gardens before it opens to the public. Dress in comfortable clothes, flat shoes or non-slip socks, and bring layers or blankets to assist you in temperature regulation for comfort in the outdoor setting (in inclement weather we will be indoors).

Your guide is Sandra Joyce who has been certified in Guided Imagery for 20 years.  She retired from Occupational Therapy working with Seniors and Therapeutic Horse Riding for children with cognitive and physical challenges. She has practiced yoga for 50+ years and is a certified teacher. Sandra is always amazed by the synergy between her western medical training and alternative wellness training, each informing and enhancing the other.
